That's on the label of every water bottle I get from the mensa: "Can have diuretic effects." Doesn't water normally have that effect? Maybe this water is supposed to make you pee even more? Boh. (My favorite phrase in Italian-- I don't know).
Well, speaking of Italian, I had my midterm today. That was.....well, I'm just hoping I don't break my record low of a 7%, let's just put it that way. Massimo said it was going to be easy, and he definitely lied. He did have an amusing section about how his wife left him for a collegue though (we had to fill in the prepositions). If it's true, I don't blame her. He deserves it.
Yesterday I had to give a 30-minute oral presentation about nuns in Renaissance Venice. In general, it wasn't too bad-- the professor kept trying to interject with things, and most of the time it was my next point, so he gave up and just let me speak (it was supposed to be my presentation anyway, not his!). Most of my audience was nodding off til I started talking about how a lot of the nuns found clever ways of getting their boyfriends in the convents (they were forced into being a nun by their families who didn't want to provide a dowry to all their daughters). My personal favorite was a story about two nuns who took out an iron bar from their window and used it at night to bang a hole in the outer wall of the convent, allowing their boyfriends through, and then they hid them in a storage cellar for a week and visited with them at night. These nuns were pretty hilarious. Anyway, the world didn't end as I had suspected it would, and now my presentation is over and I can relax the rest of the semester!
And finally, I am starting to get over this horrible cold. Yesterday I was convinced it was the flu- I suppose it could've been, because it was definitely worse than just a normal cold. But how weird is it to get the flu after getting the flu shot??! I'm just glad it's leaving me-- it'd be horrible to be in Budapest this weekend when all I want to do is sleep and eat soup. Speaking of soup, I'm rather famished. Exams always make me hungry. Keep your fingers crossed for identifiable mystery meat!

i feel like soup too.
have fun in budapest.
I don't think you have anything to worry about in regards to the water...it's impossible for you to pee anymore. ;-)
I love noble nuns! Serves their fathers right for forcing them into convents. Remember though...sneaking in boyfriends has a long historical precedent..even Carolingian noblewomen did it.
By the time you read this I'm hoping that you're feeling better. And although you're back from Budapest, if you had to drink soup there, the goulash is really good. It's more of a soup than a stew which is how they make it in the States. Not only does it taste good, it sounds cool...they pronounce it goo-yash.
